How to Clean Your Glass Top Stove

Hey everybody! So I was going about my usual cleaning of the kitchen, and about to start on my stovetop, when I realized I hadn’t done a post on cleaning messes off of your glass cooktop!

Glass cooktops are great, they look fantastic in my opinion. Until you let the rice boil over (every time) and burn some sauce onto a burner…. Then they can be ugly and damn hard to clean without scratching the hell out of it.  Unless you know my trick!  Really it’s not my trick, women have probably been using baking soda to clean glass since it was invented.  But I just really started to be introduced to the wonders of baking soda, vinegar and lemon etc not too long ago.  So anyways, this method of cleaning your cooktop will save you tons of scrubbing and make your stove look squeaky clean again! With (as always) little effort at all.  Let’s get to it!

You’ll need;

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Hot water
  • Hand towels
  • Large bowl

The process;

  Squeeze a small amount of soap into your bowl, and then fill with hot water.  Soak your hand towels in hot water, and while they soak, sprinkle baking soda on the messy spots of your cooktop.

  For me, I usually end up doing the whole surface.  I’m a bit of a messy cook. Then grab your towels, one at a time and ring some of the water out.  You want them to be wet but not dripping all over.  Then place them on top of the baking soda and let sit for 15 minutes or so.  Depending on how much mess you have on your stove, you may want to leave it for 25.

After time is up, come back and wipe your towel around on the dirty spots. You should have a paste of baking soda to work with.  The grime comes up with very little effort at all! Then just continue to wipe until you’ve removed the baking soda from the cooktop (I usually break out another washcloth to do this) and you’re done!  Nobody can tell how much of a messy cook you are!

Thanks for reading! See you later!!!
